Labor Day Party Ideas

Celebrating Labor Day shouldn’t feel like work; that’s why we’re here to help!

We commemorate this holiday with smoking barbecues, pool parties, and loads of well-deserved rest. But saying goodbye to summer and thank you to the champions of the weekend deserves more than an average party. There are tons of ways to celebrate the day in a way that will have the adults relaxed and the kids entertained.

However you decide to celebrate, make sure you take it easy and give thanks to those in history who made this day, and our current workday, possible.

Pick a Theme
Labor Day is about celebrating America and having a theme is a fun way to get your guests in the patriotic partying mood. Be sure and include your theme on your save the date so guests have time to put something together for the party.

A whiteout party plays with the rule that you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day. Have guests dress in all white, and be sure to incorporate the whiteout theme into your decorations and menu as well.

Red, White, & Blue Party
Incorporate the colors of the flag and ask everyone to wear red, white, and blue. Use the theme in your decorations as well by having American flags, stars and stripes, and the colors (red, white, and blue) displayed throughout the party.

Blue Jean Party
Nothing says America quite like a pair of blue jeans. Hard-working men and women put a pair of these on and headed to their jobs every day — so what could be a better homage to the working man? Collect your family’s old blue jeans and let the inspiration flow. You could easily cover tables in jean patchwork clothing and use old pockets for banners.

Instead of the typical BBQ that we’re all used to why not mix it up this year and try something new?

You don’t have to live in New England to host a delicious seafood bake. Gather friends by the fire pit and whip out your old tin serving buckets to give your food presentation a rustic feel. Try serving a variety of shellfish, like crab and lobster. Don’t forget the folks who may be allergic to shellfish and treat them to something like a fresh, healthy salmon.

3. Slice pickles lengthwise almost completely in half, leaving a small portion attached, like a hot dog bun.
4. Inside each pickle, spread cream cheese mixture, add a hot dog, and drizzle with mustard.

Beer Can Burgers
• 2 lb. ground beef
• 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp. garlic powder

2. Wrap two slices bacon around the bowl. If stuffing with cheddar and jalapeño, top with cheese and jalapeños. If stuffing with peppers and onions, stuff with peppers and onions and top with a slice of provolone.
3. Grill until burger is cooked, 30 minutes for medium.
4. Serve on buns with lettuce and tomato.

3. Top chicken with mozzarella, avocado, and tomato and cover grill to melt, 2 minutes.
